Both on-water skill instructors and classroom instructors can list courses — on-water instructors must hold a USCG MMC license. Every instructor is badged with their credentials and certifications, shown in black and white until we verify them, then in full color.

Optional elite certification is open to captains with 10+ years on the water and 3 years of instructing experience.

The Verified Assessment Record gives each student a permanent record in their portal, a verified credential in their digital wallet, and the ability to share it directly with marinas, insurers, lenders, and banks for discounts and privileges.

Run everything through one calendar — boat training, assessments, charters, even non-boating work. Set your hours, your days, and the breaks between sessions. Offer the same slot for several things at once: the moment one books, the rest disappear and your time adjusts automatically. Show different availability on different websites, and the right Book Now button surfaces the right appointments.

For example: Bob does handyman work Mon/Wed/Fri and boat training Tue/Thu/Sat, Sundays off. He enters it all once. His handyman site's Book Now shows only handyman openings; his boating page shows only training slots. One schedule, two businesses, zero conflicts.

An active MMC is required, plus a headshot and bio. Sign your agreements and pass a Level 2 (educator-level) criminal background check — the standard required for insurance and lender services.

The background check is yours to cover — typically $40–$99 depending on factors such as the number of addresses & occupational changes you have had in the last 10 years

Important Notes :

• Stripe is a payment processor, and per federal law, Stripe will require your EIN or SSN to complete setup.
• If you do not have an existing website, set up Stripe and save in draft mode. Once you complete the "Choose Customer Billing Portal" setup with I.T, you can return to Stripe to finalize your setup and begin receiving booking trips

You will need an on-water assessment in the following instances

• If you wish to become an on-water instructor, and your certification course did not include an on-water portion (ie NauticEd)
• You wish to qualify to become a TrustedBoater Assessor

You will Not need an on-water Assessment if

• SaferBoater assessed you on the water for any reason within the last four years. This exception applies to both Instructor & Assessor roles.
• You only wish to be an on-water instructor, and your certification course contained an on-water training portion (ie NSBC, US Powerboat, US Sailing, ASA)

Background checks must be performed through a certified provider. Please understand that only Level 2 checks (those required for educators/teachers & government employees) will be accepted.

These checks search for criminal felonies, financial and sexual misdemeanors and child abuse charges. You may provide a background check performed within the last 90 days, as long as it meets the criteria set above.
