Powerboats up to 26 Feet - Small Powerboat Skipper
- This comprehensive course delivers the essential training needed on basic powerboats, center consoles and bowriders with standard equipment.
- By mastering the operation and safety features of your powerboat, you will be able to confidently and competently navigate crowded waterways.
Don't Learn by yourself! Boating is safer when multiple passengers can operate the boat, so bring your first friend to class for FREE!

SaferBoater's 'Driver's Education' Training Course
is an instructor led program designed to teach you everything you need to know about being safe, confident and competent boater.
A SaferBoater Instructor will demonstrate maneuvers and provide hands-on training based on a carefully designed checklist, and then you will take the helm and perform each of the maneuvers that have learned.
Assessments on the other hand are purely a demonstration of your skills. The assessor will ask you to perform the items on the checklist, but they will not provide any instruction or guidance during the process.
The assessment is essentially an on-water test of your skills that can be reported to your insurance company, marina or governing body to provide you with access and discounts.

We have collaborated with several major insurance companies to develop an approved program for center consoles and powerboats up to 30' that enhances your boating skills and qualifies you for valuable boat insurance discounts.
In this mastery course, a SaferBoater Instructor will provide hands-on training following a checklist comprising 42 sections and 483 items specifically designed for novice and semi-experienced boaters.
This course takes place in 1 day (but can be broken into 2 days) and aims to sharpen your skills and prepare you for real on-water scenarios, empowering you to navigate waterways confidently and competently.
If you are an advanced or expert boater and wish to qualify for insurance discounts as well, you may take our 3 Hour Opt-Out Assessment to prove to the insurance companies that you have the knowledge & skills required to qualify for coverage and discounts.
We recommend participating in this assessment every three years to ensure your knowledge and skills remain current with evolving regulations and laws.
If you feel uncertain after completing the assessment and skills class and wish to concentrate on specific areas, such as close-quarter maneuvering or docking, we offer targeted skill-builder courses to help you further develop your abilities. Our primary goal is to ensure you feel confident and capable on the waterways.
Note: The 6 Hour class duration is designed for two students and may be quicker for 1 student, although we highly encourage you to bring a buddy. It is free after all! As with all on-water classes, additional time or subsequent courses may be necessary to help you achieve mastery of the skills taught.
